Subscribe by Email for More!

Hello all!

I have been so grateful over the past few years for how you all have encouraged me and my writing. As I’ve been in and out of school, my posting schedule has been–erratic. I’m changing that.

I have a list of ideas to share with you for the rest of this year, and next year’s list is in the making. I am so excited to share more stories about fear, relationships, faith, and art with you. These will continue to be posted regularly on the blog.

But I also want to offer more, and that’s why I’ve created a new email subscription option.

Full Disclosure

Before I go into detail, I want to be transparent. I don’t want any secrets here, no games, and no marketing ploys.

I am a writer. More and more, I feel this being confirmed. As a writer who is seeking to publish, I have been told time and again that I must have a platform. Essentially what that means is that publishers want to know that I have an existing audience.

Of course, this made me freak out. I’m not a marketer. I don’t want to trick people into buying my stuff!

But after following fellow artists like Kathy Heller at Don’t Keep Your Day Job and Jeff Goins at https://goinswriter.com/, I became encouraged to build a following based on two major principles: empathy and giving.

These artists showed me that a business can actually be a beautiful way to serve others. That’s what I want to do. That’s what I’ve been doing with this blog all this time–just hoping to help people with nothing in return.

Can I do that and actively build a platform at the same time?

Of course. Both goals–helping people and building a platform–have the same end–to reach as many people as possible.

But what this means to me is that you are not here for me–I am here for you. It means I’m not seeking to write for myself–I am writing for you. It also means no tricks. It means I’m not going to try to make you do something you don’t want to do.

Today, I don’t want to make you do anything, but I do want to tell you what I’m working on so that you have the opportunity to join me.

How You can Join Me

Like I said, this blog is for you, which means that, as I go about this process of building my website and writing posts, I want to know more about what you want. That’s why I will be asking you just that. What do you want? What kinds of posts do you like? What would you like more of? I will be creating surveys as well as inviting you to comment on posts to become more aware of what you need.

Next, I am creating an email list for those who want more content and updates whenever I post. This is where I’ll share more stories and other creative writing that I have done besides blog posts, such as nonfiction brevities, poems, and more.

Right now, email subscribers receive a free PDF of a brief nonfiction piece that I wrote in graduate school about an experience I had with debilitating anxiety. I wrote it to process this time, and it became something I hope will encourage others.

Here is an excerpt!

Finally, I have been asked before if you can share my posts.

My answer–Please do!

Every post I share comes from an intention of helping others overcome their personal obstacles. Like I said, I want to reach as many people as possible. If you believe someone else needs some encouragement, always feel free to share.

Finally….

Thank you!

Thank you for already sharing, liking, commenting, and following. Most of all, thank you for reading. It means the world to me. I have learned more from you all than I ever expected. Every time I post, I learn from your responses that I am not alone.

I want us to continue learning from each other.
